"Woe unto them that takes away the right …
the poor of my people, who
widows may be their prey … "
Isaiah 10:1-2
No greater calamity can happen to a man living his life in poverty, or persecution continues in a state of victimhood imposed on him by men of wealth, position and power. Not just a man that lives in poverty, living in misery with the full knowledge that his next care little or nothing about his fate. Such a man has few, ifany, samples of which can rotate. It is not likely that a voter or taxpayer campaign, and then give him the political background. He looks gaunt and generally behaving strangely in public is his most frightening aspect and its ways. You can also make some feel guilty for not having done anything to help him, that evokes anger and resentment instead of compassion.
There is a well known Masonic saying: "There is no help for the widow's son?" The meaning is the Masonic symbol,if it happens on a Freemason, because we are all "Sons of the Widow". As they say, is an important duty incumbent upon all men, but particularly on Masons, which are linked by an indissoluble chain of sincere affection. Masons at heart the fate of their fellows – or should care. But the social injustice that includes more live in poverty – we understand that living under the yoke of oppression.
Every nation tolerate a certain level of oppression and social injustice. Somelike America, and are therefore less tolerant views from the world how to do a better job in eliminating these conditions. Yet everywhere you look you can find those who work in an environment not sure, some who work for an inadequate salary, children who receive less than a good education, elderly people living among the rats, families who receive little or health care and no worship of the Great Architect who is criticized for not worship the same way as others do. Although these conditionsare more important than in other nations, that still exist in our backyard and are the focus of political debate coherently. If the people of this country provide for the good of others or not? That is the question.
While governments and political systems to maintain the welfare and the best way to provide health care, and that should and should not benefit, act Masons, believing that every man, woman and child should benefit. Across the nation, houses are available for those who need it -funded entirely by the Masons and their families. In every country and every clime, hospitals flourish to serve needy children paralyzed in the bones and muscles. Eye care centers and clinics serving others and speech wherever man cares to look Masons have reached out and given to those who need it most. Freemasonry is not alone in this effort, like other fraternal organizations, churches and charitable institutions also do their part to alleviate social injustice.
Yet,despite all the good works that are done each and every day by Crafts and others, social injustice is growing – here, there and everywhere. Horribly, thrives as a matter of choice – the choice of his victim, as some suggest, but a choice made by those who are in a position do something that would actually do. As man becomes more aware of himself as a unique universe, becomes strangely more inclined to worry more about himself than he does aboutothers. He feeds himself and his family and when I finished, often throw the rest in the trash. Yet, it is often that the man himself who attended religious services frequently and openly profess their faith and adherence to the Golden Rule. If you ask will tell you that he truly embraces the principle of do unto others what you would have to do to him. Yet, too often by their actions in private decides not to end social injustice, because, as seenActually, there is only enough for him and his family.
Masons are in a real sense, taught to act unnaturally, to put aside their deep concern for themselves and provide for the welfare of others. It seems so simple, but when you try to practice it, sacrifices required seems overwhelming. In the New Testament Gospels, Jesus is asked by a young man like him can be of maximum service. When he is told to sell everything he owns and walk with Jesus in servicefor others it declines with sadness, because, as we are informed, its riches are so expansive that it can not lead to surrender. The Gospels means that the young man was not a bad person – was simply a human being, his natural inclination was to serve himself first.
The bonds of society to teach everyone to love one another. Our welfare state also teaches us the modesty and sweetness, and the difference between justice and injustice. At this point we can return tosymbolism of the mosaic floor and remind ourselves that it is emblematic of human life, which is checkered with good and evil.
Where there are men who turn their backs on the poor and hungry, there are also people who create, operate and serve in missions to the city center, intended to feed and house the poor and homeless. In a nation where some came to power last professing disgust for the poor and their drain on society, there are also men and women who step forward to reachand alleviate human suffering. Freemasons are proud to include those who help, rather than with those who criticize, complain and resultingly persist in keeping brothers and sisters in a state of misery and injustice. But, having said that, what exactly are the duties of a mason, as such functions relate to social injustice?
Masonry does not require anything of its members, which is not practical and prudent. Do not question anyone's commitment to go to high and sublimepeak power that would hurt or his family. Asks only for him to do what is easy to do. No force should be taxed, and no one should believe that his duty demands that he act beyond its means and capabilities. If your time allows only the effort needed to maintain himself and his family, that Mason is not expected to abandon these responsibilities. Because, in doing what he is capable, he is acting to combat social injustice feeding hisfamily, which includes their health and safety and to provide social justice for which they are entitled.
However, even the Mason who has no time for anything but his work has for some time for his lodge. There is a chance to speak and motivate Masons to work together and through their organization to work actively to rid society of all social injustices. There is also an opportunity for Mason with limited additional time to participate with hislodge brothers, to a limited extent, at least, to perform this important social work.
Masons begin their work to combat social injustice first working to eliminate its evils in the Craft. When a Master Mason is first received at the five points of fellowship, Masonic Symbol meaning is that he is taught to go the aid of brothers, pray for him, keep his secrets, work actively to assist and to whisper good advice in a ear when wrong. These five pointsscholarship were not intended to be applied only to fellow Masons. They are intended to serve as a basis for the way in which a builder is all over the world with whom he comes into intimate contact.
The elimination or reduction of social injustice begins with the attitude and conduct of a man on another man. Massive government projects implemented to help the poor and to remedy the ills of society have little chance of success if a man took a decisiontreat others as he would treat his fellow man and act on that decision. Projects, works and projects are meaningless unless the people who are in a position to make them work to find the search useful enough for their own time and energy.
This work can become tedious and evidence of progress slow to develop. But, from the smallest seed makes a mighty oak grow. You are here on this earth to meet the souls with which they were placed – challenged todeal with them openly, honestly and with a sense of tenderness of love. The instruments of Freemasonry are the tools by which you can learn the lessons that indicates the best way to meet these challenges. God has a plan for you and that the plan requires that you give what you can give it to fulfillment. You must find only that the plan, but simply to declare everything that is likely to include do your part to alleviate social injustice.
